Fermette Les Beaux
Arts: about
the owners
|
The Fermette in which our inn was established
has served as such since the 60's of the last century. After the building
was acquired by the present hostess Lisa van Muilekom, it has undergone
a complete renovation in order to serve as an accommodation for the
performing arts.
Part of the fine accommodation has a very fine concert auditorium named
J. S. Bach!
In the realm of traditional half-timbered architecture ( also known
as "Tudor style" in the English-speaking world the J.S. Bach
enjoys excellent acoustics. Besides this advantage the J. S. Bach also
houses an extensive music library, next to a large collection of instruments.

appreciation of music, be it as a performer or as a listener. All of
this should not hinder you needs of relaxation and as well.

The"Salons"

around the time for your aperitif after a strenuous hike, in winter
they offer you the cosy warmth of the typically Ardennes styled stoves.
They bear names of musicians: Monteverdi, Vivaldi, Sweelinck and Bach.
Please, take good notice of the general smoking ban sustained by detectors,
that applies to the house.

Bach |
|
This multifunctional largest space of the Fermette has a part with lowered
ceiling and a large communal table where ordinarily breakfast is served.
But it also suits other purposes, like the annual gathering of Belgium
poets at the most important day in Ronzon village-life, the "Bouquinerie-day"
in mid-August.

Hiking
|
One is fully entitled to call the Ardennes a hiker's paradise, so
it is all but surprising that it is given as the main reason by most
guests for their visit. The immediate surroundings are inviting to engage
in all kinds of activities, like mountain biking, road cycling, rock
climbing, horseback riding and speleological adventures. The ever nearby
Ourthe facilitates those who are fond of sport or leisure related to
water (canoe trips, fly fishing, swimming).
|
You can get there by one of the many marked local trails or by the
long distance trail 57. By the way, it could be an excellent idea to
follow this trail along the Ourthe from its beginning at Liège
to its end at Diekirch (GD of Luxemburg). You could easily take a central
section out of it when you opt for a two- or three-days hiking arrangement
with "Fermette Les Beaux Arts" and other cooperating guesthouses
in Deulin and La Roche. Your host Boudewijn will be glad to inform about
the numerous hiking possibilities with his knowledge and his maps. He
might also help you to get your trips organised, for example where it
comes to getting to or from a trailhead.

This path leads straight

|
| |
In the surroundings of Ronzon, the small towns
of La Roche and Durbuy attract many tourists. Both are dominated by
a medieval castle, of which La Roche holds the most impressive one.
It is not only there that La Roche is still marked by the battles that
have raged as in the closing stages of World War II, when allied forces
made a brave stand to deny the Germans a final breakthrough. Although
locally the war and the reconstruction have left their traces, so did
tourism; in Ronzon it is not hard to imagine that you still live in
the year 1880, when Jacques Perk had his brief platonic romance with
Mathilde. "Fermette Les Beaux Arts" and its furniture
contribute highly to strengthen this impression...
